COVID-19 hit at a time most unexpected when it was meant to be a joyous occasion for all Chinese around the world to celebrate the beginnings of a lunar new year.
Within a week of knowing about the outbreak, various brands under our Group took time off voluntarily to do their part for frontline healthcare professionals, by delivering meals to them.
From China to Singapore, our employees have displayed their appreciation and gratefulness for these frontline healthcare professionals, who are tirelessly confronting a virus that everyone shuns. To our masked heroes, we are here with you, and thank you!
Leading the initiative, our Food Republic colleagues in Shanghai worked with their delivery partner to send lunch sets from Sergeant Chicken Rice daily to Ruijin Hospital located nearby. Despite the extended Chinese New Year holiday due to the outbreak, when stores have not resume operations, our chefs and delivery partners took care to ensure the meals were delivered within 10 minutes whilst still piping hot.
BreadTalk in Shanghai sent 2,000 food packages filled with delicious baked goods and fruit juice to hospitals treating medical personnel. Our staff were dressed in protective gear to ensure their safety and welfare is being taken care of; with items delivered under stringent hygiene procedures.
BreadTalk Singapore delivered packed muffins to the healthcare workers and those who are on quarantine order at the Government Quarantine Facilities. It is our small gesture to let them know we stand by them in these challenging times. Our partner – PIL Logistic assisted us in making this delivery possible and the muffins were safely distributed under stringent hygiene and collection arrangements.
